Ok so I did 3 campgrounds on three separate weekends when we bought the camper, and I have reservations for Thanksgiving weekend at a nice campground locally, but this weekend were going to Ocotillo Wells, Homes Camp. This is a 'dry' location within a few miles of a RV/Mobile home park.

This will be the first trip of the campers true purpose, shelter and comfort for when I take my son (eventually sons) out with the ATV's Dirtbikes or the Dune Buggy. Men, horsepower, high octane fuel, meat, beer and campfires.
Yes, you can hate me now...

I'll be out with no connection, on battery and tank water with my little Honda generator if I need it. For some this is just the normal stuff, but for me its a well deserved first. I have paid my dues, done my homework, and gotten the best bargain I think I could find to meet my needs for our off-road weekends.

Ocotillo is a hard pack area, no real sand dunes, so its just dirt bikes and quad's this time. I'll tow the buggy trailer with the camper for the first time. but the load will be lighter with just the quad and bike With the air bag situation sorted out (more on that later), it should tow just fine as we get the first trip of the season down.

I'll do some long range WiFi hunting, get the DTV going and see what's available and share the photos upon our return, but wish me luck!

Hey, Jim. sounds like a pretty cool trip. You've paid your dues so now it your turn to ENJOY buddy. Make sure you've got extra suspension for the beer!... Also, thanks for the link above to Holmes Camp... looks way remote and perfect for dry campin.

Looking forward to your updates. I just got back from my South Dakota pheasant hunting trip and I'll add my blog updates shortly. Pat
