Well it is time to change out the old tired batteries in my GMC Class C -Got a couple of new batteries and after working on my van I decided to do some work on the camper. Prying the old battery out was a chore! They sure don't leave you a lot of room to remove the battery. The problem is that the battery tray is up so high that with the height of the battery you barely have room to lift the battery out from under the front fender. Plus the tray was rotted and rusted. Solution was to remove the brackets that hold the tray and to cut the bracket s so the battery tray will sit much lower down which will provide more room on top of the battery to install and remove it.
Went down to my Tractor Supply store got some steel and welded me up a new tray.Got it primed and painted but I am thinking of coating it with that vinyl stuff they dip tools in to help prevent further corrosion. Either that or some brush on bed liner stuff or hard undercoating.
When you have a camper that was built in 1986 there is always going to be something that needs working on or maintained.
Also replacing the deep cycle battery as well. I will try to get a few picks up of the repair
