Been fluid changing and baselining

 Change Diff Dope -

Pulled cover off diff (that is a lightweight little sucker) –dug stuff out  cleaned thoroughly inside diff and cover;  No metal shavings or unusual artifacts – HooYah! Red Silicone ATV Gasket as per redwing suggestion (Thanks for that)..Premium 85-90 straight  - with no LSD additive dope for the rear.. Slathered on the Red Silicone – put on clean cover and tightened bolts finger tight; Waited an hour for initial cure; Tightened bolts in a cross wise pattern until about 25 # reached (a little at a time); Started filling diff - Looks like it takes a full three bottles but could only get about 2 ¾ of the three I had in the diff because of the angles.  WIll drive, check and top off later.

Feel good about it – but I know why no one does it… it is a ROYAL PITA.

This week I have also flushed my cooling system.  I think I had a blockage, and the temps down here have been pushing the needle on my temp gauge to the “white knuckle” line.  So, drain, fill with clean water and two bottles of Super Flush – run, flush, rinse and repeat – then several plain water flushes until clear.  Then put AntiFreeze - shooting for about 50/50.  I also added a cooling system conditioner – we’ll see if that helps… The temp needle is down in the “All Grins” range again…

And been hitting every Zerk I saw with a grease gun  while I was climbing around under it….

This is good for the rig! Did you put a new radiator cap on too? That's what caused our last overheating problem.
