I'm also a fan of Wal Mart for quick overnight stays when were in transit. We always shop and buy gas when there, park wayyyyyyyyyyy out of the way where we dont block or disturb or upset traffic flow, and DONT "camp" with lawn chairs and awnings and barbecue grilles or levelers etc etc. We stay under the radar and dont draw attention to ourselves. I pulled into a Wal Mart once and here comes the flashing yellow light security truck figuring he was gonna say we cant overnight there. To our pleasant surprise he asks if were staying, then says follow me around the side here its darker and quiet and I'm on security all night wooooo hoooooooo. With their 24 hour security I actually feel safer there then some remote RV parks.

In 40 years of camping in my opinion KOA's are the most over rated over priced "campgrounds" there are. We considered one last winter in Fort Pierce Florida and in the adds it sounded great. When we got there it was merely a huge gravel parking lot, no grass, no shade, NOT an RV park just a huge parking lot and they wanted LIKE $69 a night YEAH RIGHT

We pulled into a Flying J south of St Augustine Florida and they didnt just allow overnight RV stays, THEY HAD AN ENTIRE SECTION FOR RV'S ONLY. As usual we bought gas, shopped and ate breakfast there before hitting the road.
