Hi All , update on my little "diamond" in the rough. Got 99% cleaned out and despite more water damage than expected I am still impressed with her beauty, but sadly still have to take her down to frame, and possibly deal with asbestos in her walls and floors, Wed she gets tested for all that. crossing fingers it won't be too bad.
The good news is found vintage lights for her seating area and bathroom, as well as vintage inspired fabric for curtains and cushions.
Now for those who may ever run into a messy situation with wall paper and contact paper put over the beautiful paneling, If you cannot remove that stuff from your paneling. Try a chemical called MEK. It disolves the vinyl and is easy to remove. This chemical is sort of a slow acting longer evaporateing nail polish remover. yet low odor . Took off that nasty stuff and a bit of the varnish but did not harm the wood. correct name is methel ethel ketone, and you get it at any place that carries paint supplies. Like home depot, lowes etc.
Hopefully I can get my camera to work and take pics so all can see how she looks. But right now need to get her ready for winter as I won't be here this winter. Gotta head back to FL. and leave my "Diamond" till next year. Got her all braced and covered with lots of love. Gonna miss that old gal who has stolen my heart and revived my love of vintage things. That's all for now just wanted to catch you all up on what is happening. And express my thanks to all who gave me hints on how to emove that AWFUL contact paper from her walls.
