I have been living in my 1977 Travel Queen RV in Yalaguina, Nicaragua for about a year. Last week I received my residency card as a pensionado in Nicaragua. This has taken the full year to obtain, now I'm good for five years, instead of having to cross the border and return every 90 days. That's the good news, the bad news is that my VW dune buggy has been confiscated twice and now is hidden in the woods so it doesn't get taken permanently. I had hired an agent to do the work required for customs, but found out last week that he was not doing anything and stole my money. I have been informed that I need some type of official looking document with an embossed stamp that says that my 1971 Myers Manx inspired dune buggy is a classic car. Does anybody have any suggestions where to get this document? I had registered it in VA prior to coming down here, and had no problems with normal registration. Down here you are not allowed to import a vehicle that is over 7 years old unless it is a "Classic Vehicle". There are many descriptions online of what constitutes a "Classic Vehicle", (easily recognized, I like it, I want it) are some of the descriptors. As I understand it, the embossed stamp does not need to be State or Federal, a Notary Public should suffice.
Can anyone help me with this problem?
