I just picked up  a little 100 watt inverter an the Home_Despot for under $10.00 They plug into a cig lighter socket and it powers a 12 watt CFL for hours without getting hot. It also has a USB charge port and is very small.

The idea is to install one of these near every areas I want to use a normal 120 volt CFL light. It is less costly than buying more Thin-lite fixtures, and have other practical uses, like charging your electronic devices and more

 An Inverter is obviously NOT 100% efficient, it wastes some energy as heat. Why use an Inverter when instead you can use a 12 VDC CFL so you dont have to fool with the inverters heat losses??????????? I just ordered some 5 watt, 10 watt and 15 watt units to replace those inefficient 15 watt incandescent 12 VDC RV lights, I look forward to trying them out. Of course, LED lighting is even more efficient then CFL

I have 12 volt led light strips and they are nice. Not ready to give up my Thin lites though.

Yeah I understand you can loose up to 30% of your energy through the conversion
