Brief background. Saw the 1970 Starcraft in OC Craigslist ad about a year ago. Fell in love with the style immediately. Timing was bad for me so I let it go. Year later, saw it again in Craigslist for about half the original price. Talked to the current owner. He had bought it to restore and rent out at his shop in OC. Insurance would no longer write policies for his old MH's, He had 4 or 5 Cortezs in rough to restored condition, and was closing shop. Had AAA tow her the 72 miles to the Valley and our saga begins. Body in very good shape, floor .... toast. Interior ... gutted. Windshields, cracked along with a few side glass. Engine has compression in two cylinders, weak in two and almost none in four. Brakes ... non existent. The front axle has been replaced with a later Dics brake unit, from what I do not know. This should be fun. They never connected the front shocks and sway bar but hay, I'll give them credit for bolting it in right. Will have to take care of the unattached brake lines as well. Stay tuned.
