<p>Thanks Sylvia after closer inspection I realized that the previous owner nailed a 1/2" plywood which was not cut in half as you stated. I will be doing just what you advised. I have not been able to work on it. I am from San Antonio Tx. and we've had so much rain. I just started drying up.</p>

<p>I hope you figured this out by now. Typically the plywood you see is cut in half and you "Stack" the piece closest to you over the other. (lift up and slide back) Once the wood is slid back into play you should be able to fold it up... and PUSH it back. There are some "P" shaped latches that catch into a HOLE in the wall. Good luck. </p>
