Well that's understandable with the recoil bounce effect. Just might hafta put some low cost shock absorbers. I just had a good laugh of the visual of flying plates. (Been down that road). it ain't purrdyyy. Right up there with forgetting to secure the fridge doors and finding a gallon of milk blown up on the floor with othet miscl from the fridge.

An idea on reduced weight on axles would be *torsion type axles. eliminating full sets of leave springs etc. Can carry a heavy load and are quite reliable now a days. Another plus is the vast array of tire sizes for them now instead of the ole routine 14 inAnd the come with 4 lug. 5 lug and even a 6 lug version up to 16 inch tire.

The tandem does have more maintance factors as Lakota pointed out. I did start off thinking a single axel version design. But I have a friend & former employer that has a late model trailer and tows it with his Vett. Anyway he was on his way back from FL and the trailer had a axel come off  out in the middle of nowhere on I-95. Long story short, he left his trailer on the side of 95 drove some dist. for parts then was on his way again. He does tote his Harley in it, and has a sleeping configuration too. I guess you'd call the interior décor of the trailer "shop style" with comfy bunk. So I decided on the tandem axel. They do look nice with some Mooney's on. Well the rack David, your right. That's just too much stuff if I have to get a rack, and it decreases the aerodynamic agenda I have. I hate extra stuff. If I wanted to take the house camping then I'd figure how to put a stevedore under it and go camping,,,LOL...

Hi David. I haven't even thought about doing bike racks for a Mt Bike yet. Probably won't. I might put a "Tundra Basket" / "Safari Rack" on top. I could throw the bike on that. No Harleys though David.

You would need a larger camper to put bikes in it. I'm into "Rice Rockets" and I think I would get a "Toy Hauler" to tote the scoots. If you like small campers, I just bought a book titled, "TearDrops and Tiny Trailers. Authored by Douglas Keister. It shows a multitude of variations and the history of the TearDrop. I had never seen a tandem one and needed shelter while I Restore my Travco.

I'm not sure how a Harley rack would be used on a Tear Drop camper. That's a good idea about the Elf effects. Aerodynamic that's for sure.
