"Kevin, like any business, it take a well thought out business plan and a lot of hard work to make money. Building / restoring trailers is no different, it also has a seasonal component to factor in. Good luck!"
Thanks, you have to make room for the toys!
I get alot of people asking about falling out of a tent like these. Think about it, how many times sleeping in a ground tent did you wake up in the dirt outside the tent? And drinking to much…"
I'm thinking about building one out of my utility trailer. I want to come up with some original compact design with a canoe carrier on top. I currently own a 73 Metzendorf 12' hardbody camper, but would like to build something from scratch. I would really like to restore and build campers from scratch as a living, but I don't know if it would be profitable. What's your opinion?
Hey, Welcome Scott! Looks like you'r bringin the Car-Kamp concept back! Just what we need in today's world of bloated 40ft class A's and $5.00 diesel in some areas. That's killin us. Now if folks who are thinkin about light weight towable camper like yours will just "do it" and buy one they'd love it. We're really glad to see you here at Good Old RVs and look forward to your articles. Hey, how about a "blog' on your next build?? By the way Duckworks magazine led me to plan a trip next week to Port Towsend in Washington state for their annual Wooden Boat Show. Tons of fantastic strip build kayaks, canoes and sailboats. No good campgrounds close by that we know of so we are doing what we like best anyway, dry camping.
