Dodge 318 carburator swap.

Thought I would put this up.  Many many years ago I did some destruction derby racing.  We ran dodge wagons with the old 318.  And our best trick was replacing the flat spot bogging carter carb…Continue

Gas gauge on a Dodge M-300 Chassis
5 Replies

The gas gauge in the old Cabana has not worked since we have owned it but a marked stick and stopping for gas every 200 miles has been OK.   So this years list included the gas gauge working.  I…Continue

Joy and I had a thought about converting the Cabana to disc brakes on the front.  Has anyone seen anything or know of  anything related to converting a 1969 M-300 dodge chassis to disc brakes?  Thank…Continue

New engine blog

It has been a while since we were here.  Thought we had better share the latest.  After 17,000 miles...slow miles.  The 318 gas engine is out and a new to us 6BT cummins (1st gen 12 valve)  with a 4 speed allison trans is mostly in.  A bit more work on the new front cross member/ front engine mount and plumbing, wiring, drive line and exhaust.

Boondocking Upgrade

So we made our annual trip to the Homestead in Nevada and decided we needed more battery power.  The only place we had to add batteries was where the Gen set lives.  So out comes the old Onan and after some box repair, it needed it anyways.   Two 8D batteries and a Honda 2000 suitcase to run the AC if we need it.  And a 130 watt solar panel to charge batteries.

    The box repair.…

Our New Tent Box

Well we have been busy with building a way to carry and erect our vending tent.  See our blog post How to hide a Cabana.  Getting the ridge pole up was a major snag for the two of us and as much as Luke would like to help,  his lack of opposable thumbs lets him only bark encouragement. Also carrying the tent itself is difficult.  The top/roof is 30 feet by 40 feet BIG! and Heavy!  So we designed this…

Shakedown Cruise 2013

We did our shakedown cruise this weekend.  First time out this year and checking out brake, exhaust and carb work.  First time towing the bullfrog our samari.  We took off Thursday after work  and headed to Diamond lake.  Got there a bit after dark but just a stop over for the night.

We woke up to…

Hi, Beautiful pictures!  Nice rig.  Luke could be my dog Sonny's big brother; same coloring, head and floppy ears!

Thanks you for the welcome.

The photo was our first rig and a real learning experience. We moved half-way to the 21st century last summer when we traded up to a Class A.

Hello Tony,

I was surfing through the list of people on here that have experience restoring trailers that I don't, which is all of it. I was reading a posting that you were helping Jana out with some electrical issues.

I have gutted our trailer and I am going to reskin the trailer. Before I finish the interior walls though I want to make sure that all of the electrical connections work. The trailer does not have a converter in it so I am definitely going to want to add that. I am also going to need to add a new breaker panel because I don't remember removing one from the trailer.

The bottom line is that I want to know if I can get in touch with you in the future about my electrical questions and concerns since you seem to be fairly knowledgeable about  this.

Thanks for listening to me.

Thank you Tony and Joy! I love the toad! Im working on getting some photos of the Cree, right now we are stuck living abroad but will be home in April to begin the re-build. My father is doing a little tear down for me now so I can order parts (bearings and such) and have them waiting for us when we get home.
