It seems the thieves are rampant,, stealing trailers all over, No matter what kind of lock you have on the hitch, they have figured a way to tear it off and off they go with your investment. In comments, reply how you secure your trailer of rig for safe storage.

I gave up on tongue locks, Got expensive replacing them after someone tried to tear it off and was possibly disturb and couldnt finish.

I rely on a chain thru BOTH rear wheels, across the axle, criss cross so when they try to roll it, it binds up and stops them,, I know, its NOT 100% full proof. But the manager at the storage place will investigate if something looks fishy with someone trying to pull my trailer out..

Now,,, there is a full proof version available but I dont think its legal,

3lbs of c-4 packed nicely under the hitch with a pull detanator,, makes one heck of a boom and a mess of the trailer tongue (and possibly a few windows with in a 4 mile radius),, but it does stop the bad guys really really quick.

Rich Thomas,

wheel boots & locks

Comment by Rich Thomas on April 13, 2018 at 1:49am

My utility trailer sets at my home and I worry about someone just pulling up and dragging it off. I've thought about sinking a steel pipe in about 4 feet of concrete with a ball welded on the top and hitching it there with a cover over the hitch made of plate and locking it on with big master locks. I know it could be defeated but not before one of my neighbors spotted it. Also thought about welding a wheel hub to a pipe or  jack stand base and replace one of the tires with it; along with a couple locking lug nuts. If it can't roll they can't pull it. any way hope every one can manage to hold on to there stuff. It's getting to the point where some people just think if they wan't it ,it's theirs to take. Sad!
