Progress....Critter Jitters...and Frustration....

I'm glad to read that ya'll have faith in my trudging forward with this.  My faith wains back and forth lately with all of the new opportunities that need a-fixin'. LOL

One of the progresses has been the kitchen counter top ready for a new pretty face.  The new plywood is as level as it's going to get, I'm happy with it. Sooooo much better.

The new ceiling in the closet has been attached and ready for whatever covering I choose to do:

The damaged half of the bathroom ceiling is in too.

The under counter area is almost finished. I found another carpet remnant to cover the wheel well box, and I'll be adding corner molding to those edges to trim it up.  I also spray painted that ugly stained and rusted battery compartment.  No more eyesore there.

Notice the mouse trap in the pic above?  Yeah, critters are lurking. When I turned on the shop vac to clean up debris in the bathroom from yanking rot, a small mouse came running out from the under counter area.  Tiny little thing...but it's not allowed to make a home in here.  On the trap buffet table is some tasty cashew butter.

The frustration comes from continually finding major things to repair, and the time that has been involved.  The bathroom window frame was not something I wanted to see at all, but I had to dig into that and find out for sure.

As I stated before, the 2x2 on the side was a PITA to remove because of staples I could not get to.  I had to pry this out little by little, breaking it apart and peeling wood as I went.  So frustrating! I will have to replace two 2x2's, one on the side and one across the back.

And then there's the lovely job with the black gunky sealer around the window.  This looks awful and needs to either be scraped to an even line or just removed and start over....not sure yet. That can be done later, it's a minor no likey how that looks thang right now:

Summer is fading fast, and I have not even hit the roof to start repairing and fixing the things that caused all the damage in the first place!

There are days right now when I walk in there with a sigh and a groan, and a question...."what will rear it's ugly head today?" And I leave it some days purely exhausted, and then have to go to the real job. It's wearing on me physically for sure.

But, I shall trudge onward.  LOL

Have a great day all.  :)

Good advice, Rich. :) A friend invited me for a get together "down on the farm" this afternoon. I'm thinking it will be a nice break.
Just going to whip out a few small things in there this morning, nothing strenuous. I'm doing a little video documentation this weekend, that doesn't take much effort. LOL
I just went in to make my to-do notes for the day, and it's nice to see that mice like Cashew butter as much as I do. ;-)
Have a great day.
:)
