When I converted my 1976 class C Dodge from 8.00 x 16.5 tires I replaced the rims with 1992 Ford rims. The Dodge are "coined rims" meaning that they have a lip around the lug holes and they fit inside the reversed rim. Ford had the same thing up through 1992.
The 8.00 x 16.5 tire converts to a 215/75/16. I went with the slightly bigger tire a 225/75/16 and it fits perfectly. A 235/75/16 or bugger will rub.

Les Schwab wanted to put on a 215/75/16, but Good Year said a better fit was a 225/75/16. I and glad that I went with Good Year. I bought Kelly Tires from them as they make them and are warrantied through them. I have had them on for three years and I love them.

Hope this helps.
