My 1992 Toyota Warrior towing our 1994 Mercury Capri

WePulled our Capri from Inverness Fl. to Pittsburgh Pa without any problems. It was a little slow going over the mountains in West Virginia and Virginia. We did manage to pass a few tractor trailers that were going slower than us.

Those 2.0 and 2.2 R engines Toyota used are little power horses but not designed to pull real heavy, especially with an automatic,, Majority of the motor homes went with the 3 ltr, V 6,, (basically a 283 chevy engine with the 2 back cyl, cut off,, It was a short stroke power house and had a good rev line. 1st generation 3.0's were known for blowing head gaskets till toyota cured the problem.. Now they are a beast,,, suck on gas but do pull their fair weight.. BTW,, they are good for 200K before really breaking in..

Yes those older Toyota's with the 4 bangers were 2.2 lt. only 8 tenths of a litre smaller in size than the V-6 3.0 litre, but the 3.0 had much more bottom end torque.I can only imagine what it was like towing that car up and down any mountain. Cool old Toyota RV

when i saw it i assumed it was one of the four cylinder toyotas i grew up with.a v6 should have enough power to handle it.

That's fabulous!! Maybe I should consider seeing if I could tow with my 8 cyl Juno...my Prius needs a dolly though so that's 500lbs and the car is 3000.  With my heat sink/vapor lock issue I have to watch out for though might be too much.  It's set up to tow, but not sure about a car (previous owner towed a trailer with odds and ends).

It is a 3.0 6 cyl. with automatic, changed fluid when I got to Pa. and it was clean

its surprising the four cylinder toyota engine would have enough power.i assume the motorhome is a straight drive.i definatly wouldn't try that with an automatic.
