If you see my profile, the rig I am considering is a 1968 Venture by Venture Coaches in Banning, CA.
I have been unable to locate any additional information on the company or the rv itself and whether there is any chance of finding a replacement windshield & rims/tires in order to get her weighed and re-establish registration.
From there, I can decide if I take the full plunge into a full frame restoration or not.
If it cannot be roadworthy for trips a few hundred miles of my home, then it’s probably only worth the salvage to reuse as an auxiliary bedroom permenantly installed at my second home.
And right into it-has anyone ever seen one of these guys before? The serial number shows “1005” which implies there were at least 1004 that came before...I am having a heck of a time finding anything online.
This gal has serious issues-out of registration, missing 2 of its rear wheels on a dually, split rims on what is there, virtually gutted inside down to the fiberglass shell, windshield has 3 sections & 1 has been replaced with plexi.
To start I am looking for someone within a couple hours of me to take her shell off and strap it down to a newer underbelly encompassing the motor, drivetrain, chassis, trannie, axles/tires/wheels etc.
She has a wheel base of 125” and large open fenders.
Need a reversed because the steering is in front of the front tires.
Thinking of going with a minimum Ford F450 diesel.
She runs now on her 318 Dodge Polysphere & the electrical appears to be all there so maybe a full motor/chassis replacement is the least of my worries.
If i can get a new windshield & tires/rims on her and drive to get her weighed, I believe we can solve the dmv registration hurdle.
I know she is probably a money pit-I am prepared for $15-20k but more than that and my hubs will leave me!
BTW, she has built in beer taps on one side so I have made a deal with the hubs that if I can invest in getting her roadworthy again, she can make the money back by renting her to festivals & weddings.
I mean, who wouldn’t want to have this cutie show up at their party with ice cold beer & wine?
