Couple days back, I was up at the local gas station,,slash, grocery store,,slash, Smoke shop,,,slash bait stand,(lol) fueling up the ole Ford and a Transport driver pulls in to fuel up towing in a really nice brand new spiffy shiney over priced piece of crap,, Yup,, A brand new RV,, But with a twist. It was going BACK to the manufacturer,. We started to chat about it and he said a local dealer her, and possibley a few more dealers are sending back over 40 brand new trailers due to Delamination issues.

From what he gathered from the techs and salesmen at the dealership was this ole Texas sun heats them up and the glue loses its bonding and the fiberglass siding lets loose. He pointed out the drivers side of the rig and that he had to use 2  (yes 2 ) rolls of gator tape to keep the siding up till he got it back to Northern Indiana, He said when he got there to pick up the trailer, the side looked like wall paper rolling down from the top,

He said another driver got plywood to keep a section of the siding up.

He said its going to be a slow going transport as he has to stop more often to keep adding duct tape as more siding lets loose and flops in the wind and he will keep his speed around the 45 to 50 mph range as to not rip apart the RV with the wind. And here we have seen video's of bubbles under the lamination,, But having huge full sections literally peal off.

While chatting and looking over this shiney rig, I noticed something funny about the tires on the trailer, hmmm 215/55 R/14  ,,ok,, load range B.

Now that seems like a super heavy duty tire,,(said no one ever),, load range B,,, seriously,,, Thats quality stuff right there,, that should hold up a 6,000 lb trailer without a problem,,, heck it works fine on a PRIUS.. Sure why not,, It even says ALL SEASON,,,, It dont get better than that for good traction,, am I right?   Now myself, I would have splurged and opted for the raised white lettering,, but, I didnt install those tires,

(now realize,, I am being sarcastically humorous with that last statement)

Who puts a small car tire on a heavy trailer?  a rating of D or E is the normal in my understanding.... But then of course,, companies are trying to reduce costs,, maybe the 2019's with have gold cart tires or maybe even the small harbor freight 10 inch tires,, (rated for highway use)

I mean they do have a load rating of 460 lbs each,,, and multiply that by 4,, it should handle it,,  I think so,, (not).

So,, as your working on your older classic well built rig,, just think,, There are folks out there buying a brand new spiffy, all the bells and whistles rigs that are literally falling apart while they sit in the dealers lot,, and it can only get worse when they drive/pull it off the lot.

In a case like that, I would just tell the new buyers,, just purchase it and go ahead and pull it around back and leave it for repairs, and pick it up in say, 10 or so months,, But dont forget to keep making payments on it and keep full coverage insurance on it,, have a nice day.. )LOL).

Happy and safe travel ya;ll.....
