"Ok then you need to spray some lube in the choke housing so that the lube will penetrate the center of the housing or you can remove the screw in the center that holds the lever that the spring goes over. This some times gets missed when the…"

Jack Wasmuth replied to Jim Stoltz's discussion Rode in the passenger seat for the first time today
"That part that you are moving will bind if the throttle is closed. Hold the throttle open about 1/4 throttle(ENGINE NOT RUNNING) and it should move freely. It will be hard to move if the throttle is at idle as there is pressure on it."

Jim Stoltz replied to Jim Stoltz's discussion Rode in the passenger seat for the first time today
"Here's where it's binding. The high speed idle cam is binding down by the throttle plate shaft. I have to push it pretty hard to engage or disengage it. Is that normal? I filmed this when it was cold. http://youtu.be/GCsnFMsoDVM"

"Thanks Jack. I'll try all that. It seems to be running fine and operating correctly when I manually set the choke. The trick is to get it to do it by itself, so I'll follow your instructions once it's cooled off again."

Jack Wasmuth replied to Jim Stoltz's discussion Rode in the passenger seat for the first time today
"Ok lets start with the throttle linkage. Start with the engine cold and not running. Prop the choke flap open with a piece of rubber hose. Now push the throttle to the floor and observe the throttle from the right side to see if the secondaries are…"

"It sounds like it was not assembled correctly. There is never any need to add washers to the carb. If I could see it I could tell you what to do. Any chance of a close up picture or two?Jack"
