I was running errands this morning, and stopped by Malone's Tire in Apache Junction. They are HIGHLY recommended by the local forums and Facebook groups. Someone ordered 4 new Firestone Destination A/T tires, 235/75R-15s...and never picked them up! They sat in the back room for almost a year and the date code says they were made in 2019. 300 bucks out the door, mounted, balanced, the works! For all four tires! SWEET!!! So of course I had them do it, and the Ford has new shoes!
While it was on their lift, I rocked the front tires up to down, and there is some play...so new wheel bearings and races are going to happen next week. A simple job and cheap since I am doing it myself.
I had an electrical problem today, but it was simple. The previous owner spliced in wires from the coil to the distributor...and just twisted the wires together with just a flap of electrical tape. Because the engine is oily from the bad valve cover gasket, the electrical tape slipped down the wires. When both wires contacted each other, the engine died like turning off the key. I knew it was electrical...and it took me 5 minutes to fix it because I had all three of my tool boxes with me, including my electrical tool box. Started right back up, and we are good to go! (LOTS more tweaking and work to do to make it perfect...but the electrical problem is fixed).
I also paid for and put on the new temporary AZ plate, so we are good until the 11th..and hopefully Florida will have the registration done by then. The tracking numbers show that they received everything yesterday.
The workshop is all set up, and I have all the parts cut out for tomorrow's build.
All is going well and coming together perfectly!
