Well, It appears we are about to be hit with the first big snow of the 15-16 winter season here in South East Ohio. prediction at this point for Friday is 6'' + with freezing rain thrown in just to make it interesting. Let me tell you that I like to be prepared for these situations and it dawned on me that my back up k1 heater was lent out last year to my oldest son whom I'm sure now believes it's his; along with the 5 gallon full can of K1 that left here with it. and my back up electric heater went to my youngest, again last year under the same circumstances. So is he in a panic you might be asking? Well not really, I have one of the best back up emergency tools a person can own. I call it the Palace. My 1978 Travelcraft class C motor home. Yep, most people don't see the potential of having an RV other than to hit the road a couple weekends a year and then back in the drive way and forgotten till the next time. Think about this. My old camper has built in heat, built in cook stove sleeping quarters and fuel supplies. Battery back up and food storage along with fresh water capabilities given the time of year. I use bottled water in the winter months. I'm very fortunate in that I have a garage that is big enough to house my RV. also up there I have an RV outlet and several other tractors, motor cycles and an RTV ( a 4x4 little side by side) I mention this not to brag but to illustrate potential. each of these has a battery and each is kept on a battery tender to keep them in top shape. you see where I'm going here. I also have two 100 lb. LP tanks filled and ready for an extended stay. I keep two 7 gallon cans of tap water as well. I figure if I'm going to have something I have to maintain, I'm going to make it worth my time and investment. And by keeping the Palace at the ready, tanks filed and systems constantly tested and maintained I'm money ahead. My boy's don't have to worry and I have a place to go I love to be. I really hope that any of you that have an RV can see the potential for it to be more than a recreation option. It really can be the difference between being prepared and being well, anything but.

Always good to have a place to go if the power goes out. I use mine in the same way...being as cold as it is here in northern BC it's nice to have a backup plan so a person doesn't freeze or starve to death.
