Thanksgiving camp 2018

On Saturday Nov.17th I had started prepping the Palace for our annual Thanksgiving camp and it dawned on me that my furnace had, had a problem this past spring that I neglected to look into. Once again I found myself in panic mode and pulling the furnace out of the little hole it calls home. This is a problem that started from way back when the PO tried to use a modern thermostat to control a basic furnace and smoked the fan relay. I replaced it with a new proper two wire one from the RV parts…See More

Thanksgiving camp out

Well it's been quite a year for the Palace and me. We done quite a bit of traveling this year and also a whole bunch of Maintenance and rehab work. The Palace is now a worthy dependable rig that is ready to hit the road with confidence and reliability. (to bad the winter lay over is just around the corner). We are gearing up for our last adventure for the 2018 season and are heading over to Hocking Hills for a four day camp out with my sister and her husband. Once again we are calibrating…See More

Thank you for the nice welcome and wonderful advice Rich! I never even thought about the ZDDP, thank you! And you're so right about those tires, I was thinking that they LOOK just fine, but better replace them before I regret it. When I put insurance on him she told me I had full coverage if it were to break down on the road, I asked "You don't have a crystal ball do you? But, does that include tires?" lol  I'll just replace them then I don't have to worry.

Anyway, if I'm going to do it right he is probably not going to see a campsite this year, just way too big of a project. I haven't even started on the generator. Going to follow your advice and go through all of the fluids first today, and replace both batteries. (I see needing second job in my near future) My inexpensive camper is turning into "I should've just bought a new retro version"! But then I wouldn't have my new friends on this wonderful site! Thank you again Rich for the great advice. :)

Hi Rich!! We had a 19 foot 1994 Slumber Queen and drove to and from the east coast of Mexico in 2007-8. We just bought an 18 foot 1981 Taurus which needs LOTS of tlc and repairs....a work in progress. But it will be wonderful when she is done!!!

Thank you Rich for the welcome.  And that's a great idea about cutting the back and shortening it up.  I still want to use the drop down for the bed but a coupe of inches won't matter on that. I'm looking forward to this and will take pictures as work progresses.

Life got in the way

I was chatting briefly with Tina last night and was asked about pictures of the Travelcraft I call the Palace and I was reminded that I had none posted. A good while back I had the idea of revamping my picture file. It seamed like every one was updating their profiles and I jumped on the band wagon and got as far as deleting old pictures and changing my profile picture . Well as life often does, I was thrown a few curve balls from poor health to the loss of my very best friend of ten years…
