First I gutted it now im working on the walls, 1 side at a time. My first question is about the floor. It seems ok but it has been suggested that I replace it while the trailer is empty. What is recommended by "real" restorers?
One other thing is how old it is. It says "Aristocrat Lil Loafer" on the side. It was re-tagged so the registration says 0000 for the year. I've seen similar ones on the net pointing me to 1962, 63, or 64. can anyone help pin down the year?
the floor seems solid but assuming it's original, it's 50ish years old is there a rule of thumb to follow or signs to look for?
Water damage a.k.a. soft spots. which by the way harbors mold if it has had water damage. Now dont gett discouraged. I've redone a mid 60's travler and floor was original and Solid. so wasn't a need to replace. I did however put down some nice linolium tile down.
There are some things that concern me about the floor sooo, maybe I should lean toward the safe side and replace it.I have some hardwood pallet boards that I plan to mill down and use for the floor, I think that will look nice.
After pulling some paneling from the inside, I'm surprised at how poorly constructed it is. lots of staples. There is no joinery in the wall frame, just a butt joint and a staple. There doesn't look like there was any glue used either.
Just saw your story about the "poor construction" same found here in my 1970 Prowler. Staples and all kinds of cheepy stuff, saw a Utube about brakes and axles last week, he spoke of how great the base drivetrain and frame are good quality but the structure itself is just trash considering what they charge for them Glad I'm rebuilding, I don't have a stapler ;)
