Anyone have suggestions for cleaning plastic Thetford toilet?
My last rig has bad stains I was never able to get out (but I think the prev owner used something abrasive and scratched it)
Working in a bit newer rig, but the same toilet - Thetford Starlight - all plastic.
Been using the proverbial 'scrubbing bubbles' spray, but it isn't super effective. Anyone have any experience or suggestions?

There Is a product called super clean; you can get it at of all places, auto parts stores like Advanced. I have used it on plastic. It is good on organic stains and is safe on plastics and it is biodegradable. Down side is it is on the expensive side. go to Advanced web site to look and see if it would be a fit for you.
ya, dunno what stains you've been dealing with, but this did absolutely nothing for me.... not even the lightest stuff.......
Take this with a note of caution! I have a china bowl Thetford, but it does have the plastic hemispherical seal. I dismantle the toilet twice a year and thoroughly clean it with MURIATIC ACID. This is dangerous stuff, will damage your lungs if breathed in! My toilet ends up looking brand new and the plastic does not appear to be harmed. In fact the acid comes in a plastic bottle. I was going to post this before, but got jumped on for recommending jumping a starter a while ago and decided to hold off. Just don't breathe the stuff and you should be OK. .
Sorry Robert. It worked great on my deck chairs, and my cars engine. I don't know what stains you are dealing with but good luck on them all the same.
CLR is what we used to use in the old standard toilets we had...pretty much muriatic acid, as suggested. Works like a charm! (The composting toilet we have now is polyethelyne, so we can only use vinegar.).

I'll try the CLR... might even have some in the cupboard..........
thanks, guys.......!
Gloves and ventilation, bro!
Kev
rum and a cigar...... got it............
LOL!
any idea what effect the CLR will have on the rubber seals....???
I use straight muriatic acid on the plastic hemispherical seal and the rubber gasket and they look like new! Good Luck, Be Careful. Heavy rubber gloves, good eye protection, good ventilation!
