Well I don't think that this was an actual nightmare, but it was sure aggravating. We are trying to get headed out on our trip to Montana today and stopped to pick up a U-Haul trailer. All the lights worked, but we had no stop lights on the trailer. Turns out the 87 Southwind is a 5 wire setup and the trailer is a 4 wire system. No biggie, just need to wire in a converter. So here we are, in a grocery store parking lot, and only a few clouds in the area. Fifteen minutes into a 45 min. project it starts pouring buckets of rain. We are on the low end of the parking lot so all the water is running our way. 1.5 hours later I have the converter installed, lights are all working, we are both soaking wet and the rain stops. What started out as a simple u-haul trailer pickup turned into a six hour fiasco.
So tomorrow we get to do everything we had planned for today so, God willing, we will be on the road by early evening. In retrospect, it is very funny, but at the time is was not.

Murphy strikes again on day 3.
Day 2 went very well, thank you for the good wishes. At the end of Day 3 my brakes go spongy, the brake lite comes on and we limp into Kellogg, IA. Got the number of a mobile mechanic so hopefully he will be able to get to us on Saturday, but probably not till Monday. Anyway here we sit in a Good Sam trailer park going no where fast. Ain't life grand!!! We are safe that is what matters.
Hopefully its nothing major and he will have you toodling back down the ole road again. Glad you are safe.. On the bright side, you did need a little lay over time to grab some R&R, (just being positive). Hope your travels are safe and enjoyable. L.W.
