We are two crazy newbies about to loose our minds over this vintage RV restore project. We have a 1989 Georgie Boy Cruise Air III in need of all six tires...problem is we are not sure of what would be best to replace the dried out tires on the thing...tag on RV calls for 8.X19.50R, there are two different types of tires on it now which are 8R19.5..12PR. Any suggestions would truly be appreciated.

Thanks, Bonnie n' Jim

Good luck finding 8R19.5 tires, I suggest you go with 225/70r19.5 tires, more readily available and the recommended size to replace 8R19.5 tires.  I went with 245/70R19.5 tires on our 87 Southwind, but we had lots of clearance so it worked out OK.  They are slightly smaller in diameter and a shade wider, nothing that will interfere with the body like going to the 245 size could have happen.  We went with Sailun S737 tires, but Hankook and Kuhmo both make an excellent tire that will not break the bank as Goodyears, Firestones, etc. as the tires will age out (6-10 years depending on the care given) before they wear out, unless you drive 15-20,000 miles a year.

Good luck

Thank you so much Russell, your info helped so much...that was the biggest problem trying to find the 8R19.5 n' knew there had to be a replacement for them...gives us a plan at least..again much appreciated...

Just as a side note, if you need a 19.5 rim, I have 2 extras that you are free to have either by coming by and picking up or paying the shipping.
