Has anyone here driven on Oregon highway 34 from Bend, OR to US101? I am not worried about our 30 foot length, it is the width that has me concerned. Is there a shoulder? or is the edge of the pavement the edge of the road with little to nothing for a shoulder?

We are headed to Waldport, OR where our granddaughter is living. We are not concerned about making time, just having great scenery and a reasonable safe road. US20 goes north and I was trying for a more direct route. But if US20 is a safer road we will go that way.
Thanks Jack, I used Google Maps and if the section I looked at is typical of the rest of the hwy it will be smooth sailing. I have not used Google Maps before, but I will be using more often now that I know I can get a street level view of things.
Its been a few years Russell, But I dragged the ole 5th wheel with a lincoln behind it down that ole roadway, and didnt seem to be bad at all. Was a rather enjoyable little back road 2 laner. I don't think you will have a problem with the width.
Hi,
We live on the coast and have traveled 34 a few times. All the hyws going to the coast from I-5 have places the shoulder disappears and you slow down and watch real close. Hyw 101 has a few as well. But we see all kinds of rigs along any of the hyws. Lots of curves and some steep hills on all roads as well. You just have to slow down and enjoy the scenery and it is breathtaking.
Hyw 34 is pretty twisty and hilly a bit more then others. The best road across is hwy 38 Drain to Reedsport. Gets the most truck traffic so the most maint. Any other ?s just ask. Hope this helps, Tony Joy and Cool Paw Luke
Thank you Tony & Joy, we don't mind hills and twisty roads. A lot of the places we have lived have those kinds of roads. I just dislike the parts where the edge of the road and the edge of the ditch are one in the same, we fight enough of those here in AR to get my fill of DW yelling at me to move more to the left. LOL
