Hi everyone hoping someone can give me some help here. Just bought a 84 chev Jamee and it has two roof vents that are broken off. Replacement vent covers all come hinged I see. What is the piece I need to attach these covers to? I dont want to remove the metal plate thats attached to the roof and sealed. Dont they have a cover that's hinged that can attach to metal opening in my roof? Anyone have ideas?

Does your old openings have the *slide type hinging ? Or does it have the small multiple small hinge type?. They do make a slide on type hinge replacement cover which you dont need to replace the WHOLE metal plate.

Theres nothing left but that metal plate attached to roof over opening in roof. That plate has a lip on it about 4-5 tall that a vent cover can fit over. But everyone just seems to have a cover with a hinge. What piece do I need to attach tht hinged cover to? Does tht make sense trying to explain it? Thanks for giving me some guidance

Is there anyway you can post a picture?. Its sounding like you had a one piece vent unit,(Vent lid had intigrated hinges). All Vent covers have a *rain splash lip so when it rains, the water doesnt flow into roof. I can send you a link for Ebay which shows a slide on hinge type cover with a description and schematic.

I'll post a photo tonight. Understand why tht metal base has that 4or5inch lip to keep water from running in just cant seem to find vent cover and a base so to speak that can come together and snap or attach to that base. If that makes sense in way I described it.
