Weatherproofing

I have read that silicone caulk is not the best choice for waterproofing windows and other seams and crevices.  Can anyone offer any suggestions for a better choice of material?

If your resealing windows, Butyl tape is the preferred choice. (basically caulking in roll form.) Its used for resealing windows and roof vents.   Silicone doesnt work very well and is a pain to remove when having to reseal again later down the road..

Butyl tape is nice for concealed items

but when exposed  I use Seal ,

I heard is was made by Boeing

I just did my '78 Dodge with ProFlex. Eventually, the underlying butyl tape (which has been steadily corroding) *will* need replacing. But for a meantime solution, ProFlex applies easily enough (don't skip the prep work) and does a dandy job.
