What kind of insurance companies do you use for your vintage campers ? II just got a 1969 Yellowstone Camper

Looking to find out if there's some insurance companies that only cover vintage campers? I use state farm insurance for my Jayco, but don't think I would get paid enough on my 1969 Yellowstone Camper ?

Yes by have other things ins with them does make a difference, but what would they pay if something happened to your camper ? Like my 1967 Pontiac GTO, I had it appraised by a vintage car company, because of what I have in it, and have special ins on it for replacement cost.

Call Explorer RV Insurance @ 1-330-523-5089 and ask for Becky. Full coverage at a decent price. It's worth the call.

I have a 1968 Travco 270 that I'm restoring. Although it is being restored, "under construction" I was able to have a number of estimates provided. Most of the actual "Vintage / Antique " underwriters also recognize a appreciation, not depreciation of the insured item. So as explained to me the rate does increase over the years. I'd suggest to shop around using antique vehicle as the search prominence.

Hi M,

When I was looking into this 1 1/2 years ago..I had just payed a premium for a 1955 Roadliner tow camper ,in excellent original condition. It was a goose chase to find insurance that was even close to what it's worth on the vintage market. I was told by many that to get true replacement or close value you have to have your camper appraised by a licenced registered appraiser who has to inspect it in person,..top to bottom..under and inside..and write a full report to get the real value covered. Thats a tall order considering there are so few people who can do this and with the correct licencing that the insurance companies will accept. It's usually someone who also does vintage and collectible cars but has the qualifications to inspect other types of vintage things with wheels.

Add that to the fact that most vintage trailers have some old damage already..even if they are lovely, they are old....and well it's not promising any way you look at it. Might be different for complete frame up restores..I don't know.

After months of searching I settled for about 1/3 real street value on a decent policy also with liability

coverage in case the trailer rolls over someones foot or collides with anything on the road while moving. I emailed 6 actual photos of the inside and outside..to the company rep I was working with to be included in my file as evidence of condition, done with a printed date corner of a local paper as legal date verification. This was the best I could do. If anything happens..its well documented.

To my knowledge there is no up to date vintage trailer/camper insurance policy available like there is for vintage cars..at any price..it's all catch as catch can and hope for the best. We all need this specialty policy..every single person I know who has a vintage trailer is in this same boat. If anyone has other info I'm all ears too.
