Well it was cold and rainy but fun. The furnace works great after I put a new circuit board in her. Good thing because it snowed on us the last night.

Well another successful trip. This one to colonial Williamsburg VA. Had a great time and no incidents at all.

In the next few weeks I've made the decision to pull the BFA 4.0 genset from the Allegro and get it into the workshop. Too many past splices to the wiring, the remote panel works half the time, now…Continue

Well after years of contemplation, I finally decided to remove the roof rack. I love the classic Allegro look, but I just couldn't keep up with the leaks anymore. From the factory, there are 44…Continue

Thanks Dan..just finished up my dash a/c restoration...whew that was fun ..lol.! Just love having that cold air while going down the highway.
.Ok. Dan or anyone that wants to help me, I need help picking a new alternator ,I think you replaced yours with a higher amp unit? Contact me if you will at rodneyhegler@hotmail.com because I need To chat about the unit you went with ... I’ve got a 1986 allegro with a gm carburetor 454 v-8
.....Thanks and Happy RVING!!!!
RL glad to have you on here!! yes, I was so glad to have the right tools to open up the bleeder but wow was that tight clearance Clarence! You might check out my old Suburban furnace fix it videos (took two to make one).
Dan I Just saw your YouTube video on the rear brakes ,,,you’re so right the bleeder is sooo close to the leaf spring /hub assembly ...But glad you got it bled! I just finished installing a new furnace (suburban nt 30sp) Got a great deal I think at only $600..either way the old
35 year old unit needed to go ,the heat exchangers aren’t safe at that age .waiting on parts to rebuild the dash AC ..on to the next project..LOL!!!!!
Well, I managed to find the pen hole (bigger than a pin hole) in the brake hard line and fix it with flared fittings. Now to bleed the rear drums but wow! The bleeder valve is like an 1" from the leaf springs!!
It may be less because I'm thinking how the heck to I get a slotted wrench in there??? Any ideas? Allegro P30 with, you guessed it, rear drums....
Thanks Phil!
I have a Bookdocking unit on order to replace my old and not-sure-it-even-works no label model.
I pulled my Dometic fridge unit out to fix the roof leaks and rot and realized that under this cabinet, bolted to the floor of the RV is some metal box with a vented top. It's plugged in and has what looks like a voltage regulator mounted near it and some lead (metal and looks to be a thermostat wire going down into the floor). The box is aluminum and is about 11" wide by 8" high and about 9" deep. I'll be examining it more and I assumed it was some sort of inverter but the other connections give me pause.
Managed to redo the wiper/washer hoses, pump and tank so now I can hit a push button and get some water to wash mud and crud off the windshield! Of course we won't be able to travel but hey, it's one thing off my list!!
Got the belt issue fixed by pulling the alternator and putting the RIGHT pulley on her! Finally, the belt is on a correct 6 groove pulley. One more thing fixed on the Long Hauler 2.
Getting ready for the next road trip south to beat the winter blues. If only we can get Mom to not pack for 3 months of clothes....
That is good the belt came apart when it did. We lost ours in the middle of nowhere, 4 hours to get a wrecker and towed to a mechanic. Then 2 days of repair, they had to get the part from 150 miles away. Fun times LOL
