I like the idea, they are a good source of heat and most of them are usable for cooking or keeping a tea kettle hot. I think LP gas is the most concerning thing for me in RV-ing. It always lays on my mind when I'm camping. My camper had a design flaw in that when the bathroom  door is open, if bumped just right, the door knob would hit the gas oven knob turning it to the pilot light position. I re done the door stop and added an LP gas and carbon monoxide detector as well. but little things like that stay with you.

Agree w/ Wayne.  I think for serious boondocking/shtf scenario a wood stove makes sense - there was a toyota up in alaska that outfitted his that way. Let me see if I can find that...yeah, you've probably already seen it http://timmystoyota.blogspot.com/p/how-to-install-kimberly-wood-sto... and he's hawking the brand he used; but seems happy with the results.  And what better place than Alaska.  Did you see the guy whose van broke down somewhere fairly miserable and he also did a wood stove (carefully) and then basically stacked haybales around the van and made it though the winter?

  A small pot bellied stove is worth it's weight in gold. It only takes about 16 oz. of wood to heat a class C motor home. If you have a constant source of LP, ok. But if you don't.

As the good ole folks thaw out from the winter months,, their projects will resume, and more members will be showing up to showcase their prized rigs and you will get more members into your group.

  I have a 1978 Shasta Class C. I looked for an owners manual but had no luck. I then looked for "downloadable" manuals on google and ta da ta da. I now have the manual for free and have learned many things about my Shasta. One example: Coachman bought out the Shasta brand in 1976. Since mine is 1978, I guess I own a Coachman. But whatever you call it, I call it cool.
