It is a Dodge 318-3 V-8, the truck engine. I have the same engine and drive train in my 70 Glastron. The Islander is in pretty bad shape, roof caved in and lots of rot. I will probably salvage the mechanicals, appliances, windows and micellaneous stuff and then haul off whats left. I am thinking about mounting the face of it on my barn for fun.

This Islander has been in my family since new. It was rented one time by three theives who loaded it with diving equipment and guns and were on their way to the Yucatan penninsula to dive for treasure when they wrecked it in Guatemala. It was reported stolen when it was overdue to be returned and Interpol found it in a Guatemalan body shop. The bad guys were living in it while it was being repaired. They were arrested and sent to face charges for selling land they didn't own in Minnesota. My parents recovered the motorhome. Insurance was not available for trips into Mexico with rented motorhomes in those days.
