Got $46 for the old engine and heads at the local salvage yard. Better than nothing I guess. But, I couldn't leave it in the driveway (well, I could have but the neighbors wouldn't have liked it). It was 480 lbs, which makes me think a fully assembled engine can't weigh more than 600 lbs. I've read estimates of around 750, which now seems high. I can't bench press 480, 600 or 750 lbs. anyway, so I still need to be careful around it whether it's on a stand or dangling from the cherry picker. Can't wait until it's sitting where it's supposed to!

Thanks. I was looking for something I could just drop in without having to rebuild or open up. This appears to fit the bill. I'm going to re-seal the intake - someone put an Edelbrock performer on it and was a bit overzealous with the RTV at the front and rear of the intake. It's oozed to the outside, which means it's also inside. I want to see what it looks like in there anyway. It looks like they day they made it inside the valve covers - I'm hoping for the same inside the oil pan and lifter valley.

Not much to look at on the outside, but it will clean up nicely.
