I replaced the corner part of the frame here. Just above where this picture cuts off, there is a storage cabinet and I did not cut into that or above it to replace anything. I put in 2 two by twos as seen in the picture (and some one by twos horizontally). Do you think I should do anything different? I wanted to ask you before I patched the whole thing up. Thanks!!

I'm not a fan of using metal straps either. If I was doing that job, I'd probably half lap the joints where you have new & old studs meeting, and I'd use glue & stainless steel screws.
I personally am not a fan of mending plates in a static environment let alone a dynamic one. I for one would do more to brace those studs. I would suggest that you sister the studs with good wood, 1X2's or even strips of 3/4" ply glued and screwed, but I am a belt AND suspender kind of guy.
