The air pump was mounted outside the RV, to the frame at the very back of the rig. There's an air tank under there, too. I put the new pump under the driver's side twin bed to protect it from the elements. I poked a hole through the floor for the air line and wiring. The pump is only for the rear bags - it has a Jet Co air ride system that eliminates the stock suspension and replaces it with a modified leaf-spring/air bag set up and huge sway bars. The front bags are inflated manually via schrader valves in the front bumper. Both are shot - I have new ones sitting right in front of me. It's on the to-do list this weekend.

Jim, I noticed this has air ride on the front. Where is the air pump located?

Thanks

Dean

The new pump kept blowing the 30-amp fuse. The wiring from Jet Co was pretty small for the job. It was 12-gauge wire and ran 35 feet. I replaced it with 4-gauge wire with a 60-amp breaker. Pump runs much better now. And I now have some extra capacity for other things I want to do back there. Like a fuel pump, or a modest A/V system.

Yep. I can't wait to go places in this thing. The cut-off switch that came with the air pump is defective. It oscillates as it approaches the shut-off pressure, making the relay and pump oscillate to the point where it trips the breaker for the pump. But, the hard work is done. Just need to clean up the plumbing and wiring now (after I replace the pressure switch).

The air pump for the Jet Co Air Ride system had failed. After a bit of a debacle in sourcing a pump from Jet Co, I settled on this unit from airbagit.com. It's a lot more powerful than the Jet Co replacement pump. It wouldn't fit in the bracket under the RV so I figured I'd put it inside and run the air hose through the floor. It's under one of the twin beds in the back. It's fairly quiet and only runs when we're moving or when leveling at a site. Once settled in, it won't make any noise. It fills the bags up FAST and it turns out the air horns on the rig work too!
