The wheelbase on the limo is 5" longer than the RV. Much less of an overhang, though. Like an RV, I do need to be careful where I bring it for fear of not being able to get it out.
Thanks! Yes, it's an LT1. It's my second Fleetwood stretch. The first was a '96 46" stretch. It was a funeral car - 6 doors, no partition. This one is a '94 with a 60" stretch. It has a partition and more legroom than the 46" stretch. But it, too, is a 6-door. There's no door handles on the middle doors. You pop them with buttons inside the front and rear door jambs.
I have an extra LT1 in the garage and was tempted to pop it into the RV but it doesn't make enough torque. Plus I'd have to wire it up. I have the computer and wiring harness but it wouldn't be worth the effort.
Jim,that's one nice Caddy. It should have the LT1 motor from the factory.
Fixed the limo today and moved it out of the way. Put the awning back out for a few hours. It was super windy and it did really well!
Let the air out of the bags and set it down on jackstands. Removed the Jet Co air compressor. Turns out both counterweights to which the pistons are attached are stripped. Motor was running but pistons aren't moving. I sent an e-mail to Eldon at Jet Co, who has been really responsive. If they don't have parts I'm going to have to get a new compressor.
I modified it so I can hook my garage air compressor directly to the tank. Disconnected the hot lead for the air compressor and left the lead for the solenoids in tact. So I can still raise and lower it, but not worry about the wires dangling where the compressor used to be shorting out.
Also, another dozen LED panels arrived from China today. Popped them into the fixtures. They're really bright and have very little draw. Only problem is that the heat generated by them is too much for the 3M tape that comes with them. They don't stay put and wind up sitting on the lenses. Not sure if I'm going to leave it that way. In the meantime it's like daytime in there, despite the dark décor.
Picking up the new engine at 1:15 ET tomorrow. My daughter has vastly improved through the magic of antibiotics.
There are two hot wires - one runs right to the battery and it's fused, there's another that is connected to a fused, ignition-switched circuit. I took the ignition switched one and hooked it directly to the battery. I suppose that is now NOT fused. It's a temporary arrangement, but you're right in that it would be prudent to fuse it. I don't see any relays in the stock wiring - but they could be back at the pump.
Make sure you have a RELAY on your wiring from the air ride controls to the battery, (along with being fused). Will save you a headache later.
Thanks. Kids come first. Strep is a good-news-bad-news thing. It's painful and makes you feel awful, but since it's bacterial you can bang it out quickly. I won't lie, I considered having someone watch her while I made the run to pick up that engine but I thought better of it. She'll be good by Sunday.
In other news, I modified the Jet Co Air Ride system wiring so I can hook it up directly to the battery. I've been raising, lowering and tilting it to get the water off of the roof. There's a small puddle left in the back but I got most of it. And it was fun doing it.
I hear ya,,, Get the NEED to's done, then the Bling Bling for the final touches. Sorry to hear your lil un got Strep. Spoil her rotten and hope she feels better soon.
...and it rolled back up, too.
