WD-40 makes a rust buster spray. It freezes the rust fracturing it,  you might give that a try, or just spray reg WD on it and let it set a few days before you try to loosen it. We survived In the mines with their products. Probably other stuff out there just as good but we always fell back on WD ( aka) Panther Piss

Oh yeah, and the hot water heater is back to its only-stays-lit-with-the-door-open thing. I need to look at the tube to see if its clogged. Or try to adjust the air thing, but it's rusted up pretty good. I don't think I'll be able to budge it.

Also, I decided to leave the fridge lit on the way home - I've never done that before. There's a lot of controversy around this on various RV sites - some say it's safe, some say it isn't. Whether it is or isn't, mine went out at some point during the journey anyway. Not sure if it was the wind or what. For the 3-hour trip to Hershey it's going to be almost 90-degrees. I think I'll leave the genny running for the A/C and keep the fridge on electric.

With higher elevation, propane has a tendency to move slower and burn only at about 30%. When Im in higher elevations propane seems to deplete rather quickly and I get the tell tale soot on the side above the exhaust.. On lower elevations its not quite as noticable, but still there on real cold snaps.  The propane GAS will lower to a liquid state in cold conditions, and in WARM conditions will go to its natural gasious state.

With all that load on the propane I wonder what effect elevation plays on the system as well?

I'd like to think that's the case, but it only dropped to the low-40s. It was a quick drop though, and I had both furnaces, the HW heater and fridge running off of the propane. The faster it depletes, the colder it gets. So I'm going to run with that theory. That rear furnace is a the very end of the propane plumbing. And it's the first time i ran everything off of just the batteries. There's a noticeable difference in fan speed and light brightness on the batteries versus 120v.

The soot prob bothered me for months till a bunch of us ole travelers came to the conclusion of it being Cold burn. It only happened when real cold outside and is due to the propane being extremely cold and not completely burning.

It got cold at the Pocono Raceway so I fired up the furnaces. They worked as they should, but the back one left a bunch of soot, which it's never done before. Why?
