I have spent months deciding if I should get an RV or purchase a small studio Condo in Homestead, Florida for winter. I have had a knee replacement 12 years ago and a life threatening brain hemorrhage two years ago and can no longer take the winters in the Blue Ridge Mts. I had a chance to get a 1973 Leisure Time R.V. like new inside, but with the normal dirt and mold stains outside, it al;so needs new tires and the brakes checked and bearings packed, although it made the 50 mile trip to my cabin with no issues. My Blazer will not pull it and frankly I am not in a condition where I want to drive eleven hundred miles with a 20 ft. trailer behind me. I have checked on some driving services and found bids from $1400 to $900 to haul it from Front Royal, to Homestead, Fl., although I do not need to be there till October. I will be flying down in a few weeks to secure a spot for the winter season and there are several RV locations in Homestead I will check out. I would think of Key Largo or Marathon, but as soon as you go the 18 miles from Homestead to Key Largo the RV site prices nearly double, so I'll stick in Homestead. I am having a problem getting the weight of the trailer, and since Leisure Time went out of business in 1979, I do not know where to get the info, it really does not matter that much because I will not be hauling it. A few questions, since it needs a good outside cleaning what is the best item to use, I have seen many and have no idea what to use on it. It has no rust just green and black dirt and looks like maybe some mold, but no dents, breaks etc. Everything inside works, and I did not have the slightest leak after a day of major thunderstorms yesterday. I think I will get a 5000 btu a/cu unit and place it in a window rather than rely on the original a/c unit which works but has some noise to it. We took out one unit of glass and the screen and a 5000 btu a/c keeps it very cool and fits with no problem. I'll of course remove it before I go on the road. If there is anything special this newbee should know please advise. This is an adventure and I think I may sleep in it tonight, like a kid with a new toy on Christmas morning. If anyone out there has an older Leisure Time unit please advise. The one thing I am going to do is remove the head liners in it and put luan board on the ceiling, the headliner is original, and while it does not fall or sag it has a lot of wear and a luan ceiling would look really nice. Cabinets are excellent, fridge is ice cold, all lights work as does show and sinks. Need to get new propane tanks but will hold off till Florida for them. Thanks any advise please RSVP. Charles
