WELCOME, Kim, I strongly recommend camping out west. I grew up in St. Louis but we spent every summer vacation in Colorado. It was my dad's love and he shared that love with all of us. We learned (my 4 siblings and I) to respect nature, enjoy being in the wilderness instead of chosing a "tourist trap" such as amusement parks, etc., love the peace and quiet of a mountain valley, the sites and sounds of nature, and to truly find peace there. But we grew up camping, first in a huge family tent and then in a motorhome, throughout Missouri's state parks and loved them. But nothing beats the West. Of course, I think I might be prejudice because I live out here now! LOL I bought a '69 Red Dale TT and am refurbishing it. It is only 13' long and just the right size for my 3 dogs and me. think you will love finding a vintage TT and restoring it.

Welcome to the site, Kim. That Equinox (and maybe even the Mustang) should pull one of those little fiberglass RV's with no problem. They are sold under the name "Casita" or "Scamp." I suspect you've already researched those rigs. I'm trying to encourage my son and his wife to get one of them. But those little fiberglass rigs have a very devoted ownership, almost a cult-like following, so used ones are not easy to find. But a small "canned-ham" RV would provide the vintage look you are craving, and should be easily towed behind the Equinox, though I couldn't guarantee the Mustang could tow it. Use the search box at the top-right of this page to search for "canned ham." There are several members who own that type of vintage RV.
