I may be a little confused about the typography of the site. That said, this is a little about myself.
I just turned 62, living in Santa Rosa for the last 16 years, having moved here from a small town near Charlotte NC. I lived near Santa Rosa with a partner I thought I knew but the relationship proved to be toxic...
I escaped in a small, Toyota based RV and lived in that camper for about a year. It was legal to live in an RV and park wherever you were clearly welcome by your neighbors. I had a job and I was welcome to park behind the store and stay as long as I wanted. I really like the job and they were happy with me. That turned out to be over four years.
Along the way a larger motorhome came along, a '73 Kayot in pretty good condition. I had a shower and a real kitchen and a generator and... You get the picture. Also, during this time four kittens came my way.
The laws changed in Sonoma County in November of 2004. It became illegal to sleep, bathe, read or prepare food in an RV unless you were in a park and under a signed lease agreement. And the parks became limited to leases of no more than 30 days. Those lease agreements were never challenged but the rents became almost as high as and apartment of a small house.
Things had to change for me quickly. After several months of hiding and looking for a better job, I found local work driving big rigs. I could afford to rent a duplex in a nice neighborhood in the center of a block and was allowed to park my RV in front of the house. The kitties loved it. They know the backyards of every house facing the surrounding streets but the have no reason to go across the road. They're 13 years old now.
I'll continue this later.
