Tell us a little About Yourself
I have a 13', 1956 Terry Canned Ham trailer. I also own a restored 1951 Chevy, 5-window pickup and I will be towing my trailer with it in 2016. I am interested in info on campgrounds allowing dogs as I camp with 2, one is big, the other is little. Prefer to camp around a lake or the ocean. Retired so no time limits; and I live on the East side of the Cascades.

Winter RV Storage

Some County Fairgrounds rent out their enclosed buildings for winter RV storage.  Several East of the Cascades in my area are the Spokane County Fairgrounds,  the Fairgrounds near Cusick, WA and in Deer Park, WA.  Also, the former old Costco building on Sprague Avenue in Spokane rents parking spaces.  Some rent by the foot for around $12/foot for a one time charge for the months of Oct. 1 thru March 25th.  You can take your rig out and put it back in during the rental period, however, they…

Why I had to reup

To my surprise, I was dropped from this site, so I rejoined and have been approved.  My Profile was still intact so I guess I'm in again.  I have a question about the MIL strength of diamond plate to put on the front of my camper.  What MIL is good to deter damage to the diamond plate from rocks?

Leaf Springs next

Hi folks....I'm looking into to replacing the leaf springs on my '56 Terry.  The previous owners thought it was too difficult to change a tire because the camper is low, so they had the leaf springs put on top of the axle.  Now the camper is about 2.5 feet off the ground.  I'd like to switch and lower the camper, but not sure if current situation is a good one or not to keep?  I just brought my camper home from sellers and didn't quite master backing it up into the storage spot perfect, but…

Nope. A 13 ft trailer is gonna be well under the 3500 GVW ceiling requiring brakes. But the speed warnings still apply. If your axle is square, and/or your outer bearings are 3/4" (#12649 or #12749) instead of 1" or 1 1/8" (44643 or 44649), then that axle is not built for high speed. Being 60/70 years old with no record of what use it's been subjected too makes it a real gamble. High speed means high heat and the spindles can't shed it back into the axle fast enough and the outer bearings simply burn up.
