Tell us a little About Yourself
Semi-retired at age 64. Still working part time after two year vacation(haha, goofing off mostly). Many years of fix about anything. Not as much energy as I used to have. The plan has for the last 5 years is to finally retire to full time Rving. I worked at the Avco motorhome plant here in Tulsa when they changed from travel trailers to motorhomes. Over the years I have owned a 1956 Shasta 12 ft., 1968 Dodge Class A, 1977 Layton 23 ft. Travel Trailer, 1947 Fitzjohn 510 Duraliner Motor Coach, 1978 Pace Arrow Class A Model H 27ft.(future full time home)

Rain, rain, rain!

Today I finally got back to work on my Pace Arrow.  Sunny all day.  Adding a lower house style kitchen cabinet where the original dinette with bench seats used to be.  The front bench seat flipped over to make the front passenger seat.  More cabinet space and a large upper drawer.  Finishing the top with  a 18 X 18 or larger ceramic tile for food prep area.  Its against the wall opposite the kitchen area.  Will post pics later.  The coach has one weak spot in the floor in front of…

Ok Larry a pocket tool is something cabinet builders use to connect to peice,s of wood together comes with a little vise an it has two holes that you run a special drill bit with a center smaller bit on end of it an drills it in a angle that will hold where most joints want  I've saw that guy use one on building the small can campers and i had a chance to buy one from a guy few months back for little to nothing an havn't used it so its time i think.......u may no it by another name.

Hi Larry i think i can make the peices that start in corners going down but going to half to make the ones running from about 3/4 way back on back to connect to it do u think a pocket tool to drill into one to connect to to other would be secure enough an maybe metal strip them together an i guess use pocket tool to drill holes in new over head peices for ceiling to attach whats ur opinion?

It's interesting in that these old RV's require us to prioritize the necessary work. There seems to always be some necessary maintenance. I'm not saying it's bad or good, but I keep a list of things I need to adjust/replace/rework.

Sometimes I look at those dudes driving the quarter-million dollar coaches and wonder what that lifestyle would be like. But I'd prefer having mine paid off, and doing a few minor maintenance things a couple weekends a month.

Hi Larry,  Thanks for the advice about the tiles.  I was thinking of going that route simply because I already had 2 boxes of tiles handy.  I'm just not sure yet what I'll do for the floor.  I know I want something I won't have to be constantly taking care of, though.  I'm much rather be fishing, LOL.   I'm hoping to go full-time one day, would like to move around and see some of the country, check out all the rivers I can find and hike with my dogs.  Thanks!  Helen
