Work continues on the rejuvenation of my 1978 Coachman Cadet camper. I am now looking for some suggestions on how best to refinish my stove top. Stove top has surface rust/pits which I have wire brushed down to bare metal. I want to refinish it in a black gloss. I tried a high heat barbeque spray paint and all I'd did was flake off. Sprayed the paint directly on the metal, no primer. Any suggestions on how to prepare surface and what kind of paint to use that will hold up to heat. Was wondering if powder coating was a possible solution. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

there have been folks here that have powder coated there stoves. Hope some of them can jump in with some info on the topic. You can search at the top right hand side of the page. if your stove is aluminum you may have some success with a self etching primer but I don't know if they make one for high heat. Good luck on your quest.
