"Keep in mind that the rear gear oil also lubes the axle bearings so those seals are going to get destroyed by the brake fluid. That trick works for a quick sale but the seals actually turn mushy so they do not seal for long after that treatment."

"Pete, try a trick that I learned many years ago. Changer your rear end oil and add 1/2 cup of DOT 3 or 4 brake fluid. The brake fluid will swell the seal and not hurt anything. It the seal is cracked or broken it will not help. But most likely it is…"

I had a heave on the UJ and pinion yesterday and all felt solid but just realised now that the park brake is on. I'll have another try tomorrow.

I think the axle is a Dana 80, not managed to get any more info of it as yet but seals aren't available from stock in the UK.
