I purchased a few boxes of laminate flooring that I am planning on using in place of the carpet in my RV. Curious if anyone here has done this, I know it is fairly common. My question, do you install it as in a house (floating w/foam underlayment) or glued down. Any feedback would be appreciated.

I have some good quality laminate leftover from a reno in my house but I won't even consider using it in my RV. I know of several people who have had problems with this material in any area that has water or moisture. My daughter put it in their kitchen and it heaved near the sink and outside entrance. A fellow I work with had a section heave where his dog layed by his feet all the time. Just the moisture from it's body was enough to cause problems. I plan on using some kind of vinyl kitchen flooring and just glue around the edge to maken it easier to change in the future and easier to clean now.

We did it to our 66 kit companion trailer and used the foam underneath. I also put molding  around around all the edges. It has been in there over a year and a half and we have had no problems. I didn't glue it because I wanted to allow it to flex with the weather and driving down the road. It also makes it easier to take out if it becomes damaged or if your wife wants to change the decor! Good luck!

Really wouldn't recommend.  Any moisture is really hard on this stuff. We used commercial carpet squares for ease of installation.

This is the best material to use. Remember you get what you pay for. Always purchase the flooring w/foam attached and never glue it down as it is supposed to float. Use the correct shoe molding and check for clearance under slide. This is usually not a problem. Lastly cut twice and measure once, I can never get that straight. hope this is helpful

Took the leap and laid laminate floor in Eddie IV. It went down very nice over high quality foam and only used 2 boxes and a couple of pieces from a third box. The cost was $0.65 per square foot, I had left over foam from a previous job. Follow the progress of Eddie IV's reno at http://rveddie.blogspot.com/.
