Hi Bob, How about some more info? What have you done so far? What kind of heater is it? Do you light it with a match, a built in flint lighter, or built in piezo electric? Are you sure that you are getting gas to the unit? Does it not light at all, or does the pilot light and then go out?

Hi Richard lights with match. No gas to pilot light so dont know much more. there is gas to the range so i asume there is gas to the furnace.
Hi Bob, Still don't have much info! If it lights with a match, I assume it is an older unit. There should be an inline gas shut off valve where the gas piping enters into the furnace. Usually, if the handle is inline with the piping, then the valve is in the on position. Next, there will be some kind of on-off valve in the furnace itself. This valve needs to be in the on or pilot position. Third, there should be a button, or possibly you push in the knob on the on-off control valve in the furnace. Whatever it is, this needs to be held in to allow gas to flow to the pilot. If this is a newly installed unit or if the gas piping has been opened up, it may take a while for the gas line to clear the air out of the line and gas to flow through the pilot. If this doesn't help, post the make and model of the furnace, and somebody here can probably help you.

Do U have a thermostat. If the thermostat is turned up the fan would probably kick on even if there is no heat. If it does't try jumping the thermostat wires together. It could also be a bad thermocouple that should be a cheap fix to try before anything more expensive.
GREAT comments from Richard, I agree, in my words,,,,,,,Any little in line gas valve ON,,,,,,,,,Control knob (maybe red and round???) turned to PILOT position,,,,,,,,,,,Push it or some other "Light" position button down/in and HOLD while a flame is placed at the pilot orfice below thermocouple until it lights, then continue hold down a bit longer NOTE if theres air in lines it can take some time of pilot and hold down time before gas is present BE PATIENT. They seldom fail and wont light at all, more common is thermocouple is bad and pilot goes out. After pilot lights and stays lit tirn to ON position, turn up t stat get warmmmmmmmmmm
