Last winter we went to the Gila Cliff Dwellings and hot springs in Gila National Forest, New Mexico. The DRIVE UP & DOWN the mountains was a white knuckle experience if we ever had one!! Although we lived to tell, I suggest staying at a campground down the mountain and driving a car up if you can. At the time we didn't have a tow car so we went for it... seven to ten miles of 10%-12% relentless grades had us sweating our breaks.

Have ANY OF YOU DRIVEN THIS ROAD in an RV or Car? What did you think?

BTW- the destination and vistas are beautiful - not to miss - however you go.

Read our post: A Treacherous Road to Enchantment

It documents our 70 Mile drive from Silver City taking the 152 East to 35 North to the 15 North.

Cheers all!

Yes we have driven that route many times when we lived in NM and friends would visit, and I wouldn't want to drive it in an RV  However, it is very beautiful.

Always dreamed of towing a motorcycle behind an RV and doing roads like that.  I came down with a debilitating neurological problem suddenly this year which I pray will be remedied so I can revisit the West in style...life comes at you fast, as they say...gotta do it while one is 'young' and healthy...or at least healthy.  Nice seeing people here enjoying themselves...fun to watch.
