Does anybody have any tips for painting the exterior of a 1971 holiday rambler? I know that automotive paint is the best option but it is also the most costly. Are there any options that would still look good but not cost quite as much?

Oil base Rustolium [ not spelled right ] is a very good product. you can spray paint it or look up Roll & Tip painting on the internet.
PappyRalph, thank you so much for the information! I believe that our trailer was rolled and brushed the last time so I'd like to stay away from that this go around but I'll check into spraying the Rustoleum product that you mention.
We finally painted our camp trailer. it turned out better than I imagined and the cost was less than $100 which was the best part! it was a lot of work to strip the old paint but once we did that, we used degreaser to wipe down the body and then painted it (with the help of my dad who is a house painter). He found some paint that is pretty much a "go over anything" kind of paint. We take our camp trailer dry camping into the woods and I wanted something that would hold up well against the elements and tree branches, etc.. I wanted it to look good but I didn't want it to be so expensive that if the paint got scratched, I'd cry.
We used Sherwin-Williams Pro Industrial Multi Surface Gloss. It is amazing stuff!!!
