We bought a used Dometic Fridge for our camper, model # RM66e. The person that we bought it from said that it required 12 volt, but there is a 110 plug on the back of it. The camper does not have a converter because it was being used as a camp and was wired as a house would be. Do we need to put a converter in the camper or can we plug that refrigerator into a 110 outlet?
Cathy
do you use only 110 power when you camp? will you want the fridge to ever run on gas? if you only camp with 110 power pluged into the camper it will work fine like that.
We want to run it on propane, do we need electric to run it on propane. The man that we bought it from seemed to think that it needed to be plugged into electric in order to run on gas. This is an old refridgerator from a 1972 camper.
Hi,
Sounds like a two way fridge. 110vac and propane, as stated before, for 110 just plug it in. For propane the reffer will need 12vdc from a battery as well. The 12 volt runs the solenoid for the propane. Hope this helps, Tony, Joy and Cool Paw Luke
Hi,
I have used a couple of the older Dometic Frigdes and presently have a RM77. On mine there is a knob to turn from electric to gas (that sometimes hangs up so I access it from the back of the fridge). I also light the gas from the rear of the fridge; inline gas valve open, hold bypass closed (also at rear), light propane, hold bypass until thermocouple heats up. On mine everything is manual, no solenoids. No need for any electric when operating on gas.
